Minesweeper Guide

Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

This policy explains what data minesweeperguide.com collects and how it is used.

The short version

We do not ask you for personal information, and we do not have accounts. You can play the game without providing anything. The main privacy consideration on this site is third-party advertising cookies, described below.

Information we collect directly

None. There is no registration, no login, no newsletter signup, and no contact form that stores submissions. We do not ask for your name, email address, or any other personal detail in order to use the site.

If you email us voluntarily, we receive whatever you put in that email. We use it to reply and nothing else.

Game data

The Minesweeper game runs entirely in your browser. Board state, your clicks, your timer, and your results are held in your browser's memory and are never transmitted to us. We do not know what difficulty you played, whether you won, or how fast you were. Closing or refreshing the page discards it all.

Server logs

Our hosting provider records standard technical information when a page is requested, which typically includes IP address, browser type and version, referring page, and timestamp. This is standard web server behaviour and is used for security and diagnosing problems. We do not use these logs to build profiles of individual visitors.

Advertising and third-party cookies

This site displays ads served by Google AdSense.

The important points:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • Google's use of advertising data is governed by the Google Privacy & Terms site.

How to opt out

You have several options:

  • Opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You will still see ads, but they will not be personalised based on your browsing.
  • Opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices, which covers many advertising networks at once.
  • Block cookies in your browser. Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies in its settings. Blocking them will not affect the Minesweeper game, which does not rely on cookies.

Third-party vendors other than Google may also serve ads on this site and set their own cookies. We do not control those cookies and cannot list every vendor Google's network may use.

Analytics

If and when we add analytics, this policy will be updated before that happens, and it will name the provider.

Children

This site is a puzzle game with general-audience content. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA regarding data held about you. Since we do not collect or store personal information ourselves, most such requests are best directed to Google regarding advertising data. For anything we do hold, contact us using the details below.

Data retention

We do not maintain a database of visitors. Server logs are retained by our host on their standard schedule.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date at the top will change with it. Material changes — such as adding analytics or a new ad network — will be described here rather than quietly folded in.
